My daughter called. Some stupid little tiny lady who couldn’t see over the steering wheel came off 101 at full freeway speed and broadsided Rosie’s Suburu on the driver’s side as she was sitting at a stop sign. Knocked her and her pregnant tummy sideways into the console. She says ther side hurts, along with her back. Knocked my granddaughter's car sear wonky. Scared holy hell out of the au pair. Air bags went off and everyone seems to be mostly okay. Rosie said she heard Baby’s heartbeat and she’s felt her kick, but the ER refuses to monitor Baby because Rosie is 21 weeks and 1 day along and babies aren’t considered “viable” until 22 weeks. I fucking hate bureaucracy. When I called my daughter in law who is a nurse and was an ER tech for a decade, she said to tell Rosie to go up to Labor and Delivery after she’s done with ER and she can get monitored there. Well, at least she could get monitored here in Wyoming. Washington’s medical laws are so blithering idiotic that who knows whether they will or not.
Rosie says the car, which is within a few months of being paid off, is totaled. No idea if the little idiot who hit them has insurance or not. No idea if little idiot was hurt and I really don’t care. She said she “couldn’t tell where the road went.” One really ought to be able to see over the dashboard before one can get a drivers license. And if you can’t tell where the damn road is, maybe you should slow the hell down until you can.
She had $100 worth of groceries in the car. Cop insisted on having it towed, groceries and all, even though it was completely off the road. The hit was so hard one of the milk jug exploded. It’s a miracle no one was hurt any worse. I’m grateful to still have a daughter and granddaughter.

Any updates on baby and mom?
Life is like riding a motorcycle. Balance is key, unless you’re at a stoplight and forget to put your feet down. Then, balance is just embarrassing.

Thank you for asking.Things could've been much worse, but they are bad enough.
Daughter is struggling with severe hip and back pain following the accident. She is a no-nonsense former cop, but is also having issues with driving after dark and similar anxiety-related issues that arise following a traumatic event. The other driver hit them going a solid 65 miles per hour. Daughter said she was terrified she was going to miscarry after having her stomach rammed sideways into the console. Since the hospital refused to monitor the baby because it was six days from being considered "viable," she won't know for sure Baby is okay until she goes to her own doctor today. Good news is baby is still moving around. Granddaughter is bruised from the seatbelt and sore, as is the au pair that was in the car with them.
