Was the beginning of the end.

26 days later, Japan surrendered,
and World War 2 came to an end.

80 years. Wow.

This was the event that meant my father was in the occupation forces instead of the forces that were to invade Japan. He was stationed in Nagasaki starting in December of 1945. He eventually died of non-Hodgkins lymphoma, which got a lot of people exposed to radiation.
Mind the thorns.

Fate?, luck? Who knows where life's wind will blow us. At least you had more time with him. He was part of the "Great Generation".
