Morning. Cloudy, already 72, but isn't quite supposed to make 90 today. I've been reading about your fire; sounds like a fierce one. 'Tis the season. A couple of months ago, we bought the lot south of us. A neighbor bought the lots west of us. The neighbor who used to own them was a bit of a hoarder and never, ever mowed those fields, resulting in a scary level of fuel load. The lots have been grazed, mowed, and largely cleared of junk now, which is a big relief during fire season. Now we have a firebreak instead of a potential disaster. We came close to burning out in 1996, and do not want to repeat that little experience.
Yep. I know about turkey vultures defense tactics. I sat on a curb for about an hour yesterday, watching the downtown bunch go through their morning pre-flight. Got some good photos for the article that I hope will suit the magazine editor. I'm also hoping for another assignment down the line. They pay really well and writing about wildlife is my bread and butter.
