Monday August 25th

Post by Far Rider »

Morning everyone . . . :coffee:

61° here this morning

My tomato plants have really put on the tomatoes, just don't know if any are going to get ripe before it starts freezing overnight, some are about the size that roma tomatoes normally get.

There was the time I had ridden from Bridgeport to Sacatomatoes in February on the bike, it was during a warm period and the weather reports looked like it would remain that way with no precipitation. But on the day to return home it started snowing once I got to Lake Tahoe, stayed in the tire ruts going over Spooner Summit into Carson City, really had to pee when I got to the summit and pulled off on a brake check area hoping it wouldn't slide out from under me. It didn't.

We don't have slick roads from ice/snow here. In my riding days I had to watch out for the dreaded road snakes. those long asphalt crack seal lines that become slick in the summer heat.
Today is a "cooler' 98 for the high. Maybe a chance of rain by Thursday.

Morning. 59 degrees with a predicted high of 81. Definite tinge of autumn in the air in the evenings, even though a few days ago it was so hot that it made me sick. Wyoming.

I knew about road snakes, but the term "rubber alligators" disconcerted me. I've lived places where real alligators on the road were a genuine hazard, but rubber ones? At first, I wondered if they were something like the plastic owls placed on roof tops to frighten away pigeons.
Mind the thorns.

I knew rubber alligators as those chunks of semi discarded retreads.
