Tuesday December 2nd

Post by Far Rider »

Morning everybody . . . :coffee:

16° maybe flurries after 4 PM here?

Well yesterday as it was only 4° maybe 6° out, I had to go warm up the truck before going to the gym, so what I do is I have one key for the ignition and one to lock the doors while I go back in while it's warming up for 5 minutes or so. But this time the door lock cylinder was frozen, so I had to go in and get a lighter to warm up the blade of the key to thaw out the lock cylinder. Probably one of the worst times of heating one up to thaw out, later applied CLP to the key and functioned the lock a few times to maybe prevent moisture from freezing it up again.

I love the four seasons but I only want to live in three on them.
She who can not be denied has determined today is Christmas tree buying day. The perfect 6' noble fir tree awaits us in the tent at Loews building supply.

Morning. 30 degrees and 30 mph wind. A delightful December day.

My first winter in Laramie, temperatures dropped to around -50 one night. I got up the next morning to go to school and did what we always did in south Texas and central California if there was frost on the car window: poured a pan of warm water over the windshield. The water froze almost on contact. I was so astonished and so fascintated, that I got another pan of water and did it again so I could watch it freeze. Yeah, I walked to school that day. The guy downstairs was from Florida. He hooked up a hose to the hot water heater to wash the ice off his car. Then he wrecked his paint job by using a hand-held torch to try and unfreeze the doors. He moved back to Florida within a month or two.

Good times.
Mind the thorns.
