Friday March 6th

Post by Far Rider »

Morning everyone . . . :coffee:

36° and the air is moving pretty good, got a spritz last evening and the ground is damp again this morning.

Dad would always find a way for a small barrel cactus to follow him home whenever he went to see his mom or went to check the property at Dolan springs, they survived at their house in California, he would get fist sized ones once they started cracking down on people taking them.

I don't know what it was but between that rest stop South of Phoenix on the way to Tucson and the ostrich farm some huge black flying wasp looking thing smacked me in the ear and gave me a slight sting. Maybe it was a tarantula wasp.

Rooster Cogburn's ostrich farm. Originally they started raising ostriches for the meat. Later they discovered they could make more money charging tourists to feed them. Still going strong.
A cooler high of 72 today.

Morning. Cloudy, 32 degrees, skiff of snow, and not much air movement.

Ha! Clever ostrich farmers. In the San Luis Valley of Colorado is a reptile rescue and bird sanctuary called Colorado Gators Reptile Park. Started out as a tilapia farm and opened to the public around 1990. Alligators and crocs at 7600 feet above sea level. I drove past it half a dozen trips before I finally stopped. It was cool. Highly recommend it if you're down that way.

Daughter just texted to see if I can change back to the original plan of being in Washington by the 17th. She'd forgotten her au pair will be on vacation the week the baby is due. Pregnancy brain is real.
Mind the thorns.
