28° I think the cold mornings are here to stay now. Have to change the engine oil on the cars so the reminder doesn't come on in the middle of white stuff on the ground.

Yes the issue with longer days of trips is if you roll into some smaller place you very likely won't have a good chance of finding a place to eat. Happened to me in Topeka late the desk clerk said there were fast food places further down the road from the motel, but I went a few miles until I ran out of businesses and other buildings.

Morning. 31 degrees and sunny.

Yeah, I've run into the "where's the food?" problem, too. When I'm traveling to specific destinations as opposed to wandering around looking at stuff, I make reservations in specific towns, usually at airbnbs. One less thing to worry about. I've paid as little as $50 for a nice room in someone's house. Last night, I had an entire small house with a fully stocked kitchen to myself for less than $100. The night before, I stayed in a regular bnb and had the entire two story house to myself.
